Scott "Skeeter" McClelland has been a head track coach for 23 years. The past 15 have been at Lincoln High School. Having multiple state champs and top 8 place finishers in the state meet, the best is yet to come.

Coach McClelland is a graduate of Lincoln High School in 1981 and a college graduate of Northwest Missouri State University in 1985. Coach McClelland is married to wife Heather, they have 4 children all who will or have graduated from Lincoln High School. Coach McClelland has been a DMPS employee for the past 25 years.

Head coaching experience includes:  Athletic Director at North high school, Track,  Bowling, Golf , Baseball, Weightlifting and Wrestling. Assistant coaching experiences Football, Softball, Wrestling and Track. Coach McClelland has been selected CIML Metro Conference Track coach of the year multiple times. This could not happen with out great athletes. 10 out of the 19 Lincoln School records have been set while Coach McClelland has been with the track program.

Coach Walczyk is in his 12th year with Lincoln High School.  He has over 30 years experience coaching track and field.  

Coach Walczyk is a graduate of Waverly-Shell Rock HS and the University of Iowa.  He and his wife Claire have 4 children. He is an applications developer/analyst at FBL Financial Group.



Coach Walczyk is very active in track and field. He has been an officer in the Iowa Association of USATF for 30 years and is director of the annual Junior Olympics and Master meets.  He is a master level official and can be found working meets from youth level up through the US National meet of Olympic caliber athletes.

Halie is in her 2nd year serving  Lincoln High School as the Athletic Trainer.  She is responsible for the healthcare of all athletes, students, coaches, teaches - anyone at Lincoln High School! 

Halie is a LHS alum - class of 2012.  She graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelors in Athletic Training.  She received her masters in Sport Management from Washburn University.

Coach Hohl is entering his 13th season as the Distance Coach for Lincoln High School.   He is responsible for working with runners competing in events ranging in distances from 800 meters to 3200 meters.​

Coach Hohl has also been the Boys’ XC Head Coach at Lincoln HS for 11 years and is currently the FLEX Lab Social Studies teacher at Lincoln Main. 

Coach Hohl is a 1992 graduate of Lincoln High School and lives on the southside with his wife, Amanda Clark, who is a lecturer at Central College.

Coach Blake Bergstrom is in his 2nd year with the Lincoln High School Track and Field program.   He is primarily responsible for the throwers, working with the shot put and discus throwers. 

Coach Bergstrom is a Graduate of Ankeny HS and Simpson College.

Coach Zach McClelland is entering his 5th season as a track & field coach at Des Moines Lincoln. He will be assisting with sprinters and mid-distance runners this season. Before transferring over to Lincoln in 2015, Zach was the shot put & discus coach for the Des Moines Hoover Track & Field program.

 

Zach is no stranger to Lincoln High School. A 2010 graduate, he competed in track & field and football, earning a total of 7 letters. In track & field, he served as a two-year captain and threw varsity shot put for three seasons. In football, he served as a captain for the 2009 team.  Zach finished up his career as  a Unanimous First Team All-Conference selection. He also coached football at Lincoln in 2011 and 2014. Zach will return to the Railsplitter football program this fall as the Tight Ends & H-Backs Coach.

 

Zach is a Grand View University graduate, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education. He is currently working towards a Masters in Education at Drake University. He is currently a Social Studies teacher for East High School in Des Moines.
